1️⃣ Le gallerie sotterranee di “contromina” adiacenti al museo Pietro Micca furono teatro dell’ eroica vicenda che vide protagonista il minatore dell’armata sabauda. Pietro Micca infatti, perse la vita facendo esplodere una mina in una galleria. Il suo gesto fermò l’assedio francese e salvò la città.
🇬🇧 The underground tunnels near the Pietro Micca museum were the scene of the heroic story of the miner of the Savoy army. Pietro Micca, in fact, lost his life by exploding a mine in a tunnel. His gesture stopped the French siege and saved the city.
 
2️⃣ I nobili si servivano delle gallerie che correvano sotto i palazzi (es. Palazzo Madama) per spostarsi nella notte, il buio infatti rendeva le strade pericolose ed insicure e per poter raggiungere, senza essere visiti, gli amanti e le amanti.
 
🇬🇧  The nobles used the tunnels under the royal palaces (e.g. Palazzo Madama) to move during the nighttime and reach, without being visited, their lovers. The darkness, in fact, made the roads dangerous and insecure to them.
3️⃣ Le gallerie di Torino permisero alla nobiltà di sfuggire dall’ epidemia di peste evitando i contagi.
🇬🇧 Turin tunnels allowed the nobility to escape the plague by avoiding the infections.
 
4️⃣ Oltre alle gallerie del potere reale, ci sono anche quelle legate al  potere ecclesiastico. Tutte le chiese del centro sono collegate da gallerie, in modo che i preti potessero spostarsi da una all’altra senza essere visti.
 🇬🇧 The galleries were also linked to the ecclesiastical power.  All the churches in the center are connected by tunnels so that priests could move from one to the other without being seen.
5️⃣ Le Gallerie collegate al Museo Pietro Micca, costruite per contrastare l’assedio dei francesi nel 1706, sono state impiegate come rifugi aerei durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale
